Smart Goals
There are some practical SMART pointers to setting goals such as making them achievable, realistic, measurable, specific and timely. It is pointless promising yourself that you will go to the gym at 6 am every morning if you are highly unlikely to achieve this. You do not want to end up setting yourself up for failure. Better still to set a more realistic goal such as 3 times a week at a time you know you can make. A blanket no alcohol and crisps might sound a good thing. Yet maybe allowing some leeway is more likely to be successful. Ensure you have an end date so that you are more motivated and know that you have succeeded.
What is an Accountability Partner?
Having an Accountability Partner is a brilliant way of helping to vocalise your goals and have someone to report back to. It encourages and inspires you to succeed and you in turn are helping the other party.
Vision Boards
Vision Boards are a marvellous and fun way to have something tangible with images of your goals looking back at you as a colourful reminder every day.
Gather some magazines and cut out images and words that relate to what you want to achieve. Lay them out then stick them on an A3 or A4 board. This is known to be one of the keys to happiness and you will be surprised at just how great you feel carrying it out. When you look back a year or so after it is amazing seeing how far you have come.
